 Bueno Dickens Sande: Is SPGS's new Project Manager. A senior manager with a proven track record of performance and practical experience in formulation and management of Forestry, Natural Resources Management (NRM), environment, and community development programmes, Mr. Sande has steadily accumulated a sound career in development projects right from a field Agroforestry Research Scientist with ICRAF, to on-farm adaptive Dissemination Team Leader with NARO-FORRI, Assessment Facilitator with World Vision Uganda to Head of Programs with Africare Uganda through to Director of Livelihoods And Development Alternatives (LADA) and now Lead National Consultant and Chief Mentor for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). He is also highly motivated, self driven with a desire to achieve with original thought. He is also very enthusiastic and is ready to take SPGS to greater heights.

Bridget Mbabazi joined SPGS in February 2010 as the Finance and Administration Manager. She has got over five years of professional experience in project management working with Not for Profit Making Organisations. She graduated from Makerere University with a Bachelors degree in Commerce (Accounting) and is studying to complete her ACCA qualification. She brings a wealth of experience with her having worked on two USAID funded projects as a finance and administration Officer, Capital Markets Authority and the Standard Chartered Bank. SPGS is an opportunity for Bridget to learn about the forestry sector and gain more experience in her professional career.

Charles Odeke is a Senior Plantation Officer with the SPGS. He is a forestry graduate from MUK (BSc Hons). He also completed a PGD Project planning and management from UMI.A highly motivated person with keen interest to learn and share knowledge with others in the areas of commercial and small scale community tree growing. Working with SPGS since 2005, Charles has had fast tracked experience in plantation planning, development and maintenance.

Zainabu Kakungulu is a Senior Plantation officer with the SPGS. She is a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Community Forestry from Makerere University, Kampala. Zainabu also holds a Diploma in Industrial Forest Plantation from the University of Helsinki-Finland. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) Makerere University. With her vast experience, she is ready to move commercial forestry to the next level

Atuyamba Alexander is a Plantation officer. He joined SPGS late 2005 and worked as a Community Planting Officer. Alex worked with the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) in Kabale district as a Service Provider in fruit tree production. He holds a Diploma in Forestry and a Certificate in Wood Processing and Technology from Nyabyeya Forestry College Masindi. His interest has been in development of commercial tree nurseries.

 Peter Bahizi is a plantation officer trainee with SPGS having joined early 2010.He holds BSc. degree in Agriculture (MUK). Apart from the daily duties of offering technical support to the growers; he co-ordinates the timber market survey component of the project. SPGS is an opportunity for Peter to learn more about the forestry sector and gain more experience in his professional career

Josephat Kawooya is a Plantation Officer-Trainee with the SPGS. He renders technical assistance to commercial tree growers. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Makerere University. From 2008-2010, Josephat worked with SB Computer Center as a Computer trainer and Operations Manager. He also volunteered with World Vision international-Uganda as a as part of the Baseline Survey team in Community Development work.

Andrew Akasibayo is a forester by profession with a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Makerere University Kampala. He also has additional trainings in plantation planning, establishment and maintenance. Currently, he works with Sawlog Production Grant Scheme [SPGS] as a Plantation Officer Trainee with special assignment of offering technical advice to tree planters.

 Nelly Grace Bedijo is a newly employed plantation officer trainee with SPGS and holds a BSc. degree in Forestry. She has worked in the forestry sector for some time now; begun as a Forestry Officer in Amolatar district. She is hardworking, honest, dedicated and a very open person above all a dedicated Christian. She hopes to fully utilize her skills & knowledge of forestry to bring more success in tree planting .I love nature and had to study forestry; a green environment is a fantastic place to be.

William Mawenu is a Plantation Officer Trainee with SPGS. He was formerly working with Nature Harness Initiative as a research assistant. He is a forestry graduate from Makerere University (BSc). William is no stranger to forestry except that his career experience in the past has been hinged around the natural high forests. SPGS presents an opportunity to William to be part of the commercial forestry industry and enhance his skills in this dynamic sector. He is part of the team that is tackling the plantation forest yield component of the project. ”

Edith Nakayiza is a Plantation Officer-Trainee with the SPGS. She graduated with a Bachelor of community forestry (MUKS, FFNC) and also holds a post graduate certificate in programme planning and management (MUKS, ISAE). Edith volunteered with national forest authority before she joined SPGS in the mid of February 2011. She is a highly motivated person with keen interest to learn and share knowledge with others in the areas of commercial forestry, community tree growing and climate change.

Ssali Francisis a Plantation Officer- Trainee and Community Forestry graduate from Makerere University. He offers technical advice to growers and is involved in the timber markets survey and tree nursery components of the project. He volunteered with NFA in Mpanga CFR and Ecotourism Centre and also worked briefly as a Management Trainee with Community Development and Conservation Agency (CODECA) before joining SPGS.  He hopes to learn more about commercial forestry and build a career in it.
