1. Application for Financial Support:
      
        To qualify for the SPGS grant you need to:

  • Have plantable land area of 25 ha+ with supporting ownership/long tern lease documents
  • Have the financial ability to start off your plantation establishment venture on your own.
  • Be a member of the private sector (Government bodies can not be supported) 
        The application procedure you need to follow is:
  • Write a business proposal for your investment. This is called a Forest Management plan. It outlines how you intend to establish and manage your plantation. See outline on Pg. 13-15 of the SPGS Frequently Asked Questions  
  • Attach a copy of your land ownership documents (land title, purchase agreements, endorsement letters from the LCs) or if planting on a Centeral Forest Reserve, attach a copy of your Tree Planting Permit from the National Forestry authority.
  • Write a cover letter to the SPGS Project Manager, summarising your request and giving your contact details.
  • Deliver hard copies (one of each) of the above documents to the SPGS office. See contact details here       
Please note that no finacial support is given upfront. Grants are paid only to planters that have signed a contract with the Government of Uganda and after inspection of planted area. To read more about the SPGS Grant Support, download SPGS Frequently Asked Questions here
           
2.   Application for Community Support :

        To qualify for 
 
the SPGS Community Support you need to:
  • Be a member of a rural community association comprising of at least 20 interested individuals in one village/ LC1.
  • Have a small piece of land on ehich you can plant trees.
         The application procedure you need to follow is:
  • Write a list of all the community members showiing how much land each is willing to plant with timber trees (max. 5 ha per individual).
  • Draw a map directing how someone travelling from Kampala can reach your village.
  • If the Association is registered, make a copies of the Certificate of Registration, the Articles of Association and Constitution.
  • Write a letter to the SPGS Project Manager, summarising your request and giving telephone contacts for atleasttwo members of the group.
  • Deliver hard copies (one  of each) of the above documents to the SPGS office. See contact details here.
Please note that communitites are only given seedlings, training and advice but no money.
